This extraordinary scene was a momentary spectacle in July 2016. The central stream of cloud extended from the Olympic Mountains to the Cascades over the Seattle-Everett area and persisted for about 30 minutes aout two hours before dusk. It was part of an approaching concentrated storm as shown by the frontal clouds at left and right (south and north). A tornado-like spiral formed at the core of the approaching airstream. This panoramic view has east at left and west at right and is about 80 to 100 miles wide at the level of the cloud.
